Awakened Meditation & Practice
Awakened One Thích Diệu Thiện teaches that Awakened Meditation begins by becoming still enough to observe our thoughts and recognize what is aware of those thoughts. Through direct observation, we begin to distinguish the ego and its conditioned patterns from the True Mind—our Original Awakened Nature.
As this Awakened stillness becomes clearer, meditation is no longer limited to sitting. Through chanting, incense offering, sitting, walking, eating, sharing, and everyday activities, we learn to recognize the Clear Mind and live from our Original Awakened Source.
Mindfulness and relaxation meditation can help develop awareness, reduce stress, calm the mind, and alleviate suffering. These can be valuable steps toward greater peace and clarity.
Awakened Meditation goes further. Rather than focusing primarily on managing thoughts, emotions, or stress, the practice points directly toward recognizing our True Nature and ultimately becoming free from the ego system and the suffering of the cycle of birth and death.
Awakening is not about giving up the people or responsibilities in our lives. It is about letting go of our attachment to them—the need to possess, control, or define ourselves through them.
By awakening from these attachments, we return to our inherent Awakened Source and live with greater freedom, wisdom, and compassion while helping others recognize the Buddha Nature within themselves.
The teachings are guided by Awakened One Thích Diệu Thiện, who fully awakened and completely liberated the source of attachment in 2001. She lives from the Awakened Source with the Great Vow to awaken the Buddha potential in all sentient beings and help liberate suffering from its original source of attachment.
We understand that everyone's body is different, so you are welcome to sit in whatever position is comfortable and sustainable for you. If you can sit cross-legged comfortably, you may find it becomes a very supportive posture for your practice.
That can actually become an important part of the practice. Meditation does not require the mind to be perfectly calm. Distracting thoughts can help us recognize what within us is aware of them; from there, we learn not to identify with those thoughts and return to the Clear Mind.
